Currently there is no treatment in Australia for muscular dystrophy. Without further treatment, Claire’s muscles will continue to deteriorate making independent living impossible for herself and her daughter. In India, Dr Geeta Shroff has used embryonic stem cells to treat patients living with muscular dystrophy. These patients have shown signs of stabilisation and over time have increased muscle strength.
